Viola seeds 1998

If you are interested in any of the following seeds, please email the contributor with:

This year's list comprises 51 taxa from me and 12 from Nathalie. We have only a few seeds of some of them, so we make no promises of being able to meet all your wishes!  If you ask for one of these, we may wait for other folks' orders before dispatching it - to split it most usefully. In any case, we'll reply to your email before dispatching your seeds.

If you want to search for a particular taxon, use your browser's FIND function, usually CTRL-F.

If anybody else want's to have their Viola seeds included here, please email me using a similar format, though of course reference numbering may have a different syntax.

Explanation of my Reference Numbers, by example:

First year:
V28 A Viola plant, or
V28x A packet of Viola seed, or seed of V28
V28a, V28b, V28c, etc. Individual seedlings from V28x
V28x Undifferentiated seedlings from V28x
Next year, in addition:
V28bx Seed collected from V28b ('b' could be a-z, including x)
V28ba, V28bb, V28bc, etc. Individual seedlings from V28bx
V28bx Undifferentiated seedlings from V28bx
V28xx Undifferentiated seedlings from V28xx or any/all of V28ax, V28bx, etc.
Year after that, in addition:
V28bax Seed collected from V28ba ('a' could be a-z, including x)
V28baa, V28bab, V28bac, etc. Individual seedlings from V28bax
V28bax Undifferentiated seedlings from V28bax
V28xxx Undifferentiated seedlings from V28xxx or any/all of V28bax, V28bbx, etc.
And at any time:
V28x0 Seed collected from any/all generations/siblings arising from V28. Any seedlings arising from such seed, I would normally label the same - ie. V28x0, though see also 'selected seedling', below.
V43+78x0 Seed collected from any/all generations/siblings arising from V43 and/or V78, those two being of the same taxon.
A new number, eg. V437, may be used for any selected seedling or sport; its notes recording its origin as V28dac, eg.
Plants obtained by cuttings, layers, etc. retain their source plant's number; hence several individual plants may acquire the same number.

If we send you any seed, please keep a note of its reference number (preferably also on the plant label) - so we can provide information in future. That might arise with you asking a question, eg. At what altitude did the parent grow ? Or we might need to inform you of a change of name, if it is one of which we are not 100% sure at the moment.
